Can you put a price on love? Maybe not, but love will likely cost more on the most romantic day of the year.
The average cost of a dozen roses on Valentine's Day is $85 plus delivery and according to a survey done by the National Retail Federation, men spend an average of $230 on Valentine's Day and women spend about $98. Men ages 35-44 spend the most money on that day, because they are apt to buy for their kids as well.
According to the survey, about 64% percent of men buy flowers, while only 36% percent of women buy flowers for Valentine’s Day. However, 61% of men of all ages say they would like to receive flowers from a woman for Valentine’s Day. Surprisingly, 15% of women admit they have sent flowers to themselves on Valentine’s Day.
Typically advertising on Valentine's Day is directed toward men. All this data begs the question if we should be marketing to women as well as men on Valentine's Day.
